Thursday Night Ride

The predominant theme for this ride was tired legs, tired at the start, in the middle and definitely at the end. We had a two hour slot so no driving to Brandon Country Park…it was a local thrash or nothing. I met up with Rich at his house and we headed off into a stiff-ish headwind. For once the wind direction was good – against us on the way out and generally with us on the way home.

It was another ideal evening, warm and dry, empty trails and little or no traffic on the (short) road sections. I missed the Swift and its superior sand capabilities but having some bounce was a blessing on the lumpy, rocky sections near the archery club.

We kept up a good pace all the way round but refrained from any silly bursts of speed that sometimes punctuate our excursions! Lackford Lane saw my back vetoing any major effort on my behalf while Rich powered ahead to record a 6.00 minute completion of the climb.

I got home 5 minutes later than anticipated so all was well, in fact over a (just short of) 30 mile ride I’d say the timing was pretty much spot on.
