Not competitive but want to get some miles in via an organised event? Well these might be for you.


Sun 6 Mar 11 – Captain Cook’s Challenge
Brand New for 2011 CAPTAIN COOK challenge promises to be a classic. It’s an early season opportunity to test your current fitness and kick start your 2011 season. Whatever your motive, the routes provide a great workout – however you decide to ride them!

Sun 6 Mar 11 – Polocini – The Winter Sprinter
The Winter Sprinter – It’s time to leave the winter behind with an early season ride around the rolling roads of Cheshire. With a choice of two fully timed distances and a timed ‘signature’ climb, there is something for riders of all abilities.

Sat 12 Mar 11 – Jodrell Bank Cyclosportive
Early Season Cyclosportive around the Cheshire lanes. Three distances 30, 50 & 80 miles to suit all levels. Relatively flat route with a few small bumps. Good quality roads through a picturesque route passing the famous Jodrell Bank Telescope.

Sun 20 Mar 11 – The Burgess Hill Springtime Classic
The Burgess Hill Springtime Classic is SRS Events opening event of 2011 series. All three routes take in the wonderfully scenic roads of Ashdown Forest with the longest ride of 71 miles taking in hills such as Kidds Hill and the infamous Cobb lane hill.

Sun 3 Apr 11 – Essex Roads Spring Lambs
Taking in some sharp climbs & remote lanes, the Spring Lambs loops around Essex. Incorporating the rolling hills to the west before heading north to the undulations below Thaxted. Then dropping SE to the mighty North Hill & a westward return to Billericay

Sat 16 Apr 11 – Discover Rutland CiCLE Tour
The third edition of ‘The Discover Rutland CiCLE Tour’ with SPORTident timing. It has 2 routes (100 or 50 miles) which will challenge even the toughest riders with short steep climbs & hard riding throughout.

Sun 17 Apr 11 – The Brian Robinson Challenge
The scene is set for a 78 mile roller coaster ride starting near Huddersfield & through the scenery made famous by BBCs Last of the Summer Wine taking in some of the country’s most iconic climbs, including Holme Moss, before finishing with a fast descent.

Sun 17 Apr 11 – Wrynose or Bust & Bay Dash
The return of a growing Classic, Wrynose or Bust – a continental style sportive event of 112 miles with two shorter routes available on the same day. The first is The Bay Dash, (60 miles) and the second is a new 37 mile route called The Silverdale Sling.

Sat 30 Apr 11 – The Pocklington Pedal Challenge
Brand New for 2011, Clifton CC Go Ride are promoting a sportive taking in the Yorkshire Wolds. There are distances for everyone starting with a gently family ride cover 10km, the middle distance covers 100km with the longest route covering 160km. Enjoy

Sun 1 May 11 – Achill Island Cyclo Sportive
Achill Island is truly beautiful and breathtaking, its scale is hard to capture in words or even pictures. By taking part in the Achill Island Cyclo sportif you are embarking on a journey that will take you to places you can only but imagine.

Sat 7 May 11 – Bealach Beag
The Bealach Beag starts & finishes in Shieldaig. The 70Km route with 1800m of ascent goes over Bealach-na-Ba, the UK’s biggest road climb at 626m from sea level in 10km. The Applecross Peninsula is renowned as a gem in Scotland’s crown of natural wonders.

Sat 7 May 11 – The Lincoln Grand Prix Sportive
Get involved in one of the country’s best loved bike races. Two routes on quiet picturesque lanes in the challenging Lincolnshire Wolds. The 55 mile route takes in less of the hills of the Wolds and is perfectly suited to those new to sportives.

Sun 8 May 11 – Hampshire Hilly Hundred
100 miles/76 miles of near traffic-free cycling through unspoiled countryside, taking in a variety of challenging climbs – from drags to short sharp shocks to big hills, notably Watership Down, in all almost 2400m of ascending.

Sun 8 May 11 – May Flyer Sportive
For the 13th year the May Flyer takes to the roads with a choice of 2 reasonably challenging routes. The 80km route meanders around the North Downs and the 140km route crosses the Downs on the way to Amberley in Sussex before returning on different lanes.

Sat 14 May 11 – Polocini – Kegs and Legs
Kegs and Legs. A Sportive and beer festival. We have three challenging routes. The Half Pint, Pint and the Yard which includes a timed King o’the Hill climb. There is camping on site and we can even offer a post ride ice bath!

Sun 15 May 11 – Somerset Hills Gran Fondo
Both the Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo routes take in the breathtaking Mendip, Quantock and Exmoor Hills. This event is about the camaraderie, fun, good cheer and natural beauty that are the heart and soul of Cycling.

Sat 21 May 11 – Keswick Sportive
A classic sportive taking in some challenging & spectacular Lakeland climbs. Held in conjunction with the Keswick Mountain Festival. The main route includes the Whinlatter, Newlands & Honister passes – each climbed twice & from a different direction.

Sun 22 May 11 – Eastbourne Cyclosportive
All the usual high standards of organisation by SRS Events on this popular cyclosportive. With three great routes this event is not to be missed. This event is part of the Eastbourne Cycling Festival weekend 21st – 22nd May.

Sun 22 May 11 – Pearson 150
Back by popular demand after the huge success of last year’s event – an even better sportive to kick start your summer. Two distances, 150km or 75km, a great day of riding, beautiful scenery, and a challenge for all levels in aid of Royal Marsden Hospital

Sat 28 May 11 – Richmond Cyclosportive
For the sixth year, the 5 Dale, 4 Dale and 3 Dale Richmond Cyclosportives – 100, 80 and 56 miles on some of the most beautiful, challenging and traffic free roads in Britain.

Sat 28 May 11 – Skye Cyclosportive
Riders really will feel that they are on the edge of the world as the routes go around the wild and beautiful Trotternish Peninsula right at the Northern tip of Skye. The road follows the peninsula between the cliffs of the Quaraing and the Atlantic Ocean

Sat 4 Jun 11 – Cairngorm Mountain Cyclosportive
The UKs highest event on public roads (632m). The route undulates through beautiful forest and moorland, passing some of the world’s most famous whisky distilleries, before a final lung-bursting 350m climb back up to the finish. 50 or 100 mile route.

Sun 5 Jun 11 – Lancaster CC – Le Terrier
102, 67 or 45miles on quiet roads in the Forest of Bowland. The 45M route takes in Jubilee Towers with over 1,500m of ascent – a wee terrier! The 102 mile route, with over 2,600m of ascent, finishes through Wray, Roeburndale, Scout Camp and Stocka Bank!

Sun 5 Jun 11 – The Addiscombe Challenge
A classic, picturesque and sometimes challenging ride, mainly in Surrey country lanes. A 135k out and back route with over 1,300m of climbing rolling through very quiet lanes and villages with some of the areas classic hills to test your mid-season form.

Sat 11 Jun 11 – Hope Against Cancer Leics SuperTour
The Leicestershire SuperTour is a new charity sportive which takes advantage of the varied nature of Leicestershire terrain, combining the tough hills of the Charnwood forest with rolling and flat sections where riders can nudge up their average speed.

Sun 12 Jun 11 – OrchidCycle Essex
Join Orchid and Essex Roads Cycling Club for our 20, 40, 75 and 100 mile sponsored rides through the beautiful Essex countryside. All the routes gently undulate through scenic countryside whilst passing through some of Essex loveliest villages.

Sun 12 Jun 11 – The Howgill Hammer
The Howgill Hammer is a fabulous new sportive that has something for all riders. Demanding climbs & fast descents through beautiful countryside. Local riders have enjoyed these stunning rides for years, a classic sportive & one for the calendar this year.

Sun 12 Jun 11 – The Mull Cyclosportive
A date for your diary. The Mull Cyclosportive is an 85 (or 42) mile route round the Isle of Mull in aid of two fabulous charities: Help for Heroes and the Tobermory Lifeboat. This is the beginning of something new and very special.BE PART OF IT!

Sun 12 Jun 11 – Tour de Weald
The second Cyclosportive in the SRS Events 2011 series. The Tour de Weald Cyclosportive takes riders on a discovery of the mostly unknown roads of the lower Weald. This event is raising funds for the Sussex Heart Charity.

Sun 12 Jun 11 – Tour Of Pembrokeshire
The Tour of Pembrokeshire should be high on your list of must-do sportives. It’s a fabulous ride, the coast and mountains provide wonderful climbs, fast, sweeping descents and breath-taking scenery. Stay over, it’s a great place. Geraint Thomas MBE

Sat 18 Jun 11 – High Moors Challenge
a new sportive taking in some challenging & spectacular climbs throughout Teesdale & Weardale based from Appleby-in-Westmorland. Expect a lot of climbing and descending with a good mix of terrain, from quiet lanes to open moorland.

Sun 26 Jun 11 – Gran Fondo Luciano
The Gran Fondo Luciano is circa 120k route which covers some familiar climbs in Surrey such as Box Hill ‘Zig Zag’, Turners Hill, Coldharbour Leith Hill, Whitedown to name a few. The undulating course will be challenging but it’s a great summer event.
